Webinar: The Environmental Change of Saskatchewan Crop Production
June 09, 2021
10:00 AM CST
Dr. Smyth’s Agri-Food Innovation and Sustainability Enhancement Chair & SAIFood are hosting a free webinar on the results of his research team’s “Crop Rotation Survey” of Saskatchewan crop producers.
The Crop Rotation Survey collected management data from Saskatchewan grain farmers on how their practices have changed over the past 25 years. The results of the survey have been used to quantify how the environmental sustainability of Saskatchewan farms has changed resulting from adoptions such as no-till, the removal of summerfallow, the use of more environmentally-benign chemicals, the adoption of equipment, and the change in fertilizer use. Information regarding these changes will be shared with governments, policymakers, and the public to help give farmers a voice in Canada’s climate change conversations.
The upcoming webinar will present survey results on changes in carbon sequestration over the past 25 years. Register for the event here.
