Tenders are invited for non-exclusive license to produce in Saskatchewan, process in Canada and market worldwide, for the years 2019-2024, for CDC Sublime: Large red Clearfield® (CL) lentil with a green seed coat.

If the decision to tender is made, all tender submissions must include the following information:

  • Business history
  • A Saskatchewan-based production plan
  • Plan to maintain a closed-loop system
  • A Canadian processing plan – the lentils must be dehulled (decorticated) before export
  • A global marketing plan
  • Proposed value chain and indication of how the added value potential will be shared with the members of the chain

Commercialization rights will be awarded based on a realistic business plan to produce, process and market the lentils, and the ability to protect the IP associated with this new variety. There will be no royalty or fee associated with the license other than the mandatory levy payable on the harvested grain. Proponents must be willing to accept the terms of an evergreen Clearfield Retail Stewardship Agreement from BASF to ensure implementation of Clearfield Stewardship.

Saskatchewan Pulse Growers reserves the right to reject any or all tenders and to negotiate the terms of an agreement with any proponent.

For more information on the above variety, please contact Dr. Bert Vandenberg, Plant Breeder with the Crop Development Centre at the University of Saskatchewan, at 306-966-8786 or albert.vandenberg@usask.ca.

Please forward tender submissions to Attention: Laurie Friesen, Seed Program Manager, lfriesen@saskpulse.com.

Seed samples to be provided upon request.
