Objective
To determine if pulses improve glycemic control in non-insulin dependent diabetes, as assessed by HbA1c and to assess whether these outcomes relate to improvements in cardiovascular health.
Outcome
Incorporation of legumes as part of a low-glycemic index (GI) diet improved both glycemic control and reduced calculated coronary heart disease risk score in type 2 diabetes mellitus.
