To quantify biological nitrogen fixation (BNF) in pulse crops as affected by a preceding canola crop. To identify soil zones and/or specific soil properties where canola inhibits BNF in a following pulse crop. To evaluate the incidence of diseases common to canola and pulse crops and their potential contribution to inhibiting BNF.
