Lead Investigator(s)
Dr. Francois Belzile
Lead Investigator(s) Institution
Université Laval
Objective
To develop a rapid and low cost genotyping platform for soybean; to develop selection tools to facilitate the breeding of high yielding, short-season soybeans; to develop tools to detect the presence and identify the type of Phytophthora sojae (Phytophthora root rot; PRR) or Heterodera glycines (soybean cyst nematod; SCN) in Canadian fields; to develop selection tools to facilitate the development of varieties with increased disease resistance; to maximize soybean industry development in Western Canada.
