Development of non-GMO food soybean for western Canada

Lead Investigator(s) Institution
University of Saskatchewan - CDC
Objective
To conduct the soybean Adaptation and Isoline trials at four locations in Saskatchewan in 2013. To compare the results with data collected in 2011 and 2012, in order to make recommendations regarding yield/maturity relationships for soybean production in Saskatchewan
Outcome
To increase the reliability of soybean production under Saskatchewan conditions, varieties require very early relative maturity, i.e., a minimum of late MG 00, and preferably MG 000. Additional breeding work is required to achieve early maturity objectives. Evaluation in the target environment will allow for the selection of individual plants that have the best response to photoperiod (long days/short nights), temperature (warm days/cool nights), and soil conditions.
