Objective
To conduct the regional variety trials of field pea, lentil, chickpea, dry bean, and faba bean in Saskatchewan.
Outcome
This project effectively evaluated new pulse varieties in the key production areas of Saskatchewan. Results were analyzed, summarized, and reported in a timely manner to facilitate decision making of growers, seed growers, breeders, and seed companies. By supporting this project, Saskatchewan Pulse Growers facilitated the breeding of pulse crops for Saskatchewan by organizations and companies both within and outside the province. Annual data from the Saskatchewan pulse crop regional trials are summarized and incorporated into the long-term Saskatchewan means tables for publication in Varieties of Grain Crops.
