Description
CDC Impulse (IBC-479) is a high yielding Clearfield® small red lentil that is well-adapted to the Brown and Dark Brown soil zones. In 14 years of testing in the co-op and regional trials in Saskatchewan, CDC Impulse yielded 109% of CDC Maxim in the Brown and Dark Brown soil zones, and 103% in the Black and Dark Grey soil zones (Table 1). Seed type is larger in diameter making CDC Impulse seeding costs higher. CDC Impulse has PBR’91 protection.
Statistical analysis of 8 years of long-term RVT data ranked CDC Impulse 2nd from the top for yield in the brown & dark brown soil zones and 4th in the black soil zone among 7 historical and new small red lentil varieties (Figure 1).
Strengths
- High yield compared to CDC Maxim
- Highest yielding CL small red lentil in the brown and dark brown soil zones
- Imidazolinone tolerance
- Seed weight and diameter is greater than CDC Maxim.
- Taller than CDC Maxim
Neutral
- Similar in disease ratings and lodging resistance compared to CDC Maxim
