Description
In 9 years of testing in the Co-op and Regional trials in Saskatchewan, CDC Spectrum yielded 104% of the check variety CDC Amarillo in the southern regions and 101% in the north (Table 1). CDC Spectrum has high protein (+0.7% vs. CDC Amarillo). It also has very good standability. CDC Spectrum has PBR’91 protection.

Statistical analysis of 10 years of long-term RVT data (86 site-years for CDC Spectrum) ranked CDC Spectrum 5th from the top for yield among 18 historical and new yellow pea varieties. CDC Spectrum consistently yielded significantly higher than CDC Meadow and would be a good replacement for this older variety. Statistical analysis by site showed CDC Spectrum ranking in the top 5 varieties at most locations with no significant difference from higher ranking varieties.
CDC Spectrum performed the best at the RVT sites at Glaslyn, Hodgeville, Indian Head, Lucky Lake, Meath Park, Rosthern, Scott and Sutherland.
