SPG has collaborated with a number of associations to provide important feedback on behalf of growers and the agriculture industry to Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada’s (AAFC) Sustainable Agriculture Strategy Consultation.
The consultation was launched by AAFC with the goal of developing a sustainable agriculture strategy that will improve environmental performance in the sector, support farmers livelihoods, and strengthen the Canadian agricultural industry.
SPG worked with SaskCrops groups (SPG, SaskCanola, SaskWheat, SaskFlax, SaskBarley, SaskOats), as well as national association, Pulse Canada, on two collaborative submissions. Submissions outlined recommendations and feedback related to addressing data gaps and improving measurement capacity regarding environmental performance and benchmarking; approaches to overcome barriers and advance environmental outcomes; and creating clearly defined metrics and processes for collecting data on environmental performance.
