On October 28, 2020, India’s Ministry of Finance published a notification extending its current tariff reduction for lentils imported into India.

Pulse Canada continues to work with the Government of Canada to receive clarification regarding the applicability of this amendment.

Pulse Canada’s understanding is that the amendment maintains the reduced tariff on lentils imported into India until December 31, 2020 to the following rates:

  • 11% (10% basic customs duty plus 10% surcharge) – Applying to lentils imported from all origins except the USA
  • 33% (30% basic customs duty plus 10% surcharge) – Applying to lentils imported from USA origin

Pulse Canada will continue to provide updates to CSCA Members as specific details of India’s policy are confirmed.
