The Government of Canada has confirmed that as of September 1, 2020, India’s tariff on lentils imported from all countries except the United States (US) will return to 33% (30% base plus 10% social welfare charge).

The Government of Canada has confirmed that as of September 1, 2020, India’s tariff on lentils imported from all countries except the United States (US) will return to 33% (30% base plus 10% social welfare charge) from the temporarily reduced rate of 11% (10% + 1%).

As of September 1, 2020 India’s tariff on lentils imported from the US will return to 55% (50% + 5%) from the temporarily reduced rate of 33% (30% + 3%).

On June 2, 2020 India’s Ministry of Finance published a notification regarding a temporary reduction of India’s customs duty on imported lentils.  On June 4, 2020, India’s Ministry of Finance issued a press release clarifying that the temporary reduction of India’s tariff would end on September 1, 2020.
