Welcome to the Saskatchewan Environmental Heatmaps, developed through a partnership between Saskatchewan Pulse Growers and TerraVision360.
These maps provide weather-based insights to support producers and agronomists across Saskatchewan, with a focus on forecasted key environmental and climate conditions. Using data from a 20 km grid of virtual weather stations with hourly inputs (sourced from IBM/The Weather Company), the system generates regularly updated maps that evaluate how recent and forecasted weather conditions influence environmental risk factors.
Environmental and climate heatmaps are provided in parallel to support broader agronomic decisions and general crop management under variable weather conditions. In addition, a frost risk map is produced for each day, allowing growers to monitor and respond to potential frost events.
Due to pulse crops maturing and pre-harvest interval restrictions, the window for fungicide application is generally past. Maps will focus only on climate for the remainder of the season.

Temperature Maps: Agronomist Notes
- Daytime highs of 20-25°C are expected across most of Saskatchewan through the weekend, with the warmest conditions centered over western, central, and southern regions. These temperatures will continue to support crop dry down and harvest operations where precipitation remains limited.
- Overnight lows are generally 3-8°C, with slightly warmer temperatures across western and southern areas. Conditions remain above critical frost thresholds for most of the province.
- Average temperatures of 12-15°C will provide continued heat accumulation for later-seeded pulse crops, while also helping reduce seed moisture in mature fields.
- Overall, warm and stable weather should create favourable opportunities for harvest activities across much of Saskatchewan.

Precipitation Map: Agronomist Notes
- Most of Saskatchewan looks to remain dry this weekend, supporting ongoing harvest progress and field accessibility.
- Light precipitation of approximately 1-10 mm is possible across portions of the southeastern region of the province.
- While southeastern regions could see brief interruptions to field work, precipitation is not expected to significantly impact harvest progress across the majority of the province.





Frost Maps: Agronomist Notes
- There is little to no frost risk across Saskatchewan from September 17-21, with no widespread frost events currently forecast.
- Overnight temperatures remain above freezing across most regions, allowing late-seeded pulse crops additional time to complete seed fill and reach harvest readiness.
- Green patches and later-maturing crops will benefit from several more frost-free nights before cooler conditions return.
- For the coming week, weather-related harvest concerns remain focused on localized rainfall rather than frost damage.
While every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of these maps, weather-driven models are inherently uncertain, and forecasts may not be 100% precise. All outputs are based on conditions at the time of modeling and are subject to change as weather patterns evolve.
