December 1, 2022 (Saskatoon, SK) – Saskatchewan Pulse Growers (SPG) is pleased to announce the newest members to the Board of Directors, following the close of the election period on November 30. Two board members are new, and SPG retains an existing Director for another term.

New to the SPG Board are Robyn Henry of Hodgeville and Stuart Lawrence from Rosetown. SPG welcomes back Brad Blackwell from Dinsmore who was re-elected. The newly elected members will join SPG’s Board in January 2023, following SPG’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).
 
“On behalf of the Board, I would like to congratulate Robyn, Brad, and Stuart. Each of the new members brings experience, expertise, and a diverse perspective, representing a wide range of growing regions,” says SPG Chair Shaun Dyrland. “Thank you to all the candidates who put their names forward. It was exciting to have the increased level of engagement and interest in our board nominations and we were impressed by the strong list of candidates.”

“I would like to say thank you to Jason Hennes, who will be stepping down from the board this January. We are grateful for the time and effort he spent as SPG Director and wish him all the best. Also, I want to recognize John Bumbac, outgoing Director who has served SPG for the past three years. His contributions to the pulse industry and Saskatchewan’s pulse growers are very appreciated.”

There were 2,592 votes cast by 1,050 ballots in this year’s election. Nearly all votes were received through the online voting platform. The final vote results are:

Robyn Henry – 712
Brad Blackwell – 612
Stuart Lawrence – 560
Donald Gaudet – 452
John Bumbac – 256

The afternoon of January 9, 2023 will feature a pulse market outlook from 1–2:00 PM by Chuck Penner. SPG’s hybrid AGM will begin at 4:00 PM, followed by a networking reception at 5:30 PM.
