Following the March 25, 2021 Federal-Territorial-Provincial (FTP) meeting Saskatchewan Pulse Growers (SPG) welcomes the removal of reference margin limits (RML) in the AgriStability program, making the change retroactive to 2020 and extending the 2021 signup deadline to June 30, 2021.

SPG recognizes the work of Saskatchewan Agriculture Minister David Marit, and federal and provincial government Ministers on this topic.

However, SPG is disappointed that governments could not find consensus on increasing the coverage level within AgriStability. SPG has been advocating, directly and with other groups, for the removal of RMLs and increasing of the compensation coverage level in order to improve the AgriStabliity for producers.

With the next policy framework beginning in 2023, SPG feels it is important to undertake a thorough review of Business Risk Management (BRM) programs, to ensure they continue to work best for producers.

Accountable to and funded by growers, SPG’s strategic direction is guided by a nine member, grower-elected, Board of Directors. SPG’s mission is to provide leadership for profitable growth for Saskatchewan pulses.
