Research Objective

Project Description

To determine the effect of repeated applications of azoxystrobin, pyraclostroin, boscalid, and chlorothalonil in various sequences in chickpea crops on microbial diversity and function; to determine the effect of different pulse varieties on associated microbial community (fungi, bacteria); to determine the effect of fungicide use and pulse genotype on the yield of the subsequent crops of durum wheat.

Outcome

Intensive fungicide application in chickpea fields can yield negative effects on the structure of soil bacterial and fungal communities. Different plant genotype also can select varied rhizomicrobial communities due to their different growing characteristics, which can lead to a shift in the endophytic microbial community of the following crops.
