April 2015

With the goal to increase consumer demand for lentils through the Saskatchewan Pulse Growers’ promotional brand Canadian Lentils, work is undertaken to showcase the versatility and health attributes of lentils to a group identified as key consumer influencers such as bloggers, culinary professionals, and dietitians.

The spring of 2015 saw a high focus placed on the culinary professionals audience segment with two key events taking place in the month of March.

Research Chefs Association Conference

Canadian Lentils attended the Research Chefs Association Conference for this first time this year creating the opportunity to interact with chefs, food scientists, and food product developers from across the United States and Canada. Canadian Lentils participated in the Culinology Expo where the team served samples of Lentil Flour Brownies and Lentil Gazpacho, while providing attendees with information on the application and use of lentil flour in addition to the versatility of lentils in their typical form. Canadian Lentils also co-‐ sponsored a luncheon with the USA Dry Pea & Lentil Council/Northern Pulse Growers where lentils, peas, and chickpeas were showcased in a Cajun-‐themed lunch buffet.
