Root rot has become the top production challenge for Saskatchewan pea and lentil growers. Root rot resistance is a top priority for growers, and SPG is investing in research to deliver resistant varieties and practical management tools.
In this video, Dr. Sabine Banniza and Dr. Ana Vargas from the University of Saskatchewan’s Crop Development Centre discuss how understanding pathogen behaviour and rotation effects supports breeding and evaluation of improved pea and lentil lines.
This work is supported by Saskatchewan Pulse Growers (SPG) as part of a long-term commitment to addressing root rot through research, breeding, and practical solutions for producers.
