Description

CDC Kermit is a high-yielding, small green lentil with improved lodging tolerance. It has similar plant characteristics and seed to CDC Viceroy but is higher yielding. CDC Kermit is not imidazolinone tolerant. It is well-suited to the Dark Brown and Brown soil zone regions that produce green lentils. In nine years of testing in the co-op and regional trials in Saskatchewan, it yielded 104% of CDC Maxim in the Brown and Dark Brown soil zones, and 99% in the Black and Dark Grey zones, making it the highest yielding small green lentil (Table 1). CDC Kermit has PBR’91 protection.

Strengths

  • Improved yield vs. CDC Maxim
  • Highest yielding small green lentil
  • Good lodging tolerance
  • Good resistance to Ascochyta blight and Anthracnose

Neutral

  • Early-mid maturity
  • Seed characteristics similar to CDC Viceroy and CDC Imvincible

Weaknesses

  • Not tolerant to imidazolinone herbicides
